2018 AGM – WELCOME
Message from the President
The Canadian Association of Malaysia is pleased to report that 2017 was once again a successful year.
CAM Membership 2017
Current membership of 45 families for the Canadian Association of Malaysia
2017 Executive
We started 2017 with the following Elected Executive:
All positions are again up for election and the existing Executive members may declare their candidacy at the AGM.
Financials
Henry Groen maintained our records. Financial comparative records for 2017 and 2016 are included in this package.
Yeap Cheng Chuan & Co. acted as our financial auditors and filed our 2016 income taxes.
These same auditors will be proposed for the upcoming 2017 audit.
In order to remain in good fiscal shape and be cognitive of our previous year tax liabilities, the CAM Executive did not move any funds from the interest bearing account separate from our current account. These term deposits continue to earn interest.
Activities
All of CAM’s activities are the result of the many hours of hard work expended by our fantastic team of volunteers. Sherry Groen, our 2nd V.P., led the charge this year for most of our events. Thank you Sherry for your enthusiasm and efforts to ensure we had a special function every month. The following is the list of CAM activities held for the year:
Special mentions go to our Canada Rocks “Lite” and Christmas Lunch event.
Canada Rocks “Lite” was a sold-out event held at the White Horse Tavern. It was an excellent evening where everyone was able to relax and dance to great sounds of the live band and have a wonderful time. Mark your calendars another fantastic night this coming May 12, 2018.
Our final event of 2017 was our Family Christmas Lunch. This year had over 60 attendees including many children who were blessed with a visit from Santa. Thank you to all of you for attending and making this event a worthy effort.
We are always seeking volunteers to step up to the plate and share the workload related to the event’s organization and implementation. Please feel free to put your hat in the ring.
Charities
From the monies available, CAM continues to support charitable events during the year with donations totaling above RM6,000.
On behalf of CAM, I would like to send a sincere thank you to all our members for their wonderful, continuing support by volunteering and attending our activities. I truly believe 2018 will bring bigger and better things for the future!

- 4th Oct 2017 – Pink Lunch for Breast Cancer
- 8th Oct 2017 – Thanksgiving Lunch at RSGC
- 18th Nov 2017 – GO- Karting at KartX Speedway, USJ
- 26th Nov 2017 – Movember Night Pub Crawl for Prostate Cancer
- 10th Dec 2017 – Christmas Lunch at RSGC
- 22nd Feb 2018 – Bowling Tournament
- 20th March 2018 – Ambiance Coffee Morning
